About Our MInistry
Chris Sylva
Chris was born in Quito, Ecuador, and now has the unique opportunity to be a missionary in his own hometown. He has served at Alliance Academy International (AAI) as a missionary teacher since 2001, and is currently teaching physical education to students in 2nd to 8th grades. He also coaches the varsity soccer teams, and teaches high school classes. He is known and loved by all of the students at AAI, and has the opportunity to mentor several high school and middle school students.
Kristin Sylva
Kristin felt called to go to Ecuador during her senior year of college. God opened all of the doors, and made it perfectly clear that AAI was where He wanted her to serve. This is her fifth year teaching 1st grade at AAI. This year she has the opportunity to teach, develop relationships, and share Christ every day with 20 students from all over the world, including the U.S., Japan, Korea, and Ecuador. Her class website can be found at www.mrssylvasclass.weebly.com.
Together, Chris and Kristin run several additional ministries. They are the class sponsors for the class of 2018 cabinet, and are able to help guide and shape those students into wise leaders for their classmates. The couple also host a lot of small group meals and gatherings for high school students, reaching out to them where they are at and showing them God's love. This year Kristin plans to invest in the lives of her students' mothers, most of whom are not believers and have not witnessed genuine Christ-like love. Chris and Kristin also plan to start a bible study for young couples.

We were married June 9, 2012 in Ecuador. Our precious daughter, Aaliyah Marie, was born on January 1, 2015. She is such a joy in our lives! We are so very happy with where the Lord has placed us, and are blessed by the opportunities that God is giving us. Through our mission, we are constantly being shown how he provides for and takes care of us.
About the Alliance Academy International (AAI)
AAI was founded as a school for missionary children in 1929. Since that time, the demographic has shifted. Now AAI serves 80% Ecuadorian children. The remaining 20% of families are from the United States, Asian countries, and all around the world.
Many of these families are from strict catholic backgrounds, but other religions (Buddhists, atheists, etc.) are also represented. These families send their children to AAI for a English education, however the missionary teachers are firmly dedicated to teaching Christian principles and talking openly about our faith. Many students are only exposed to these truths through the school, and are able to begin or strengthen their relationships with God as a result. The mission field at AAI is ripe, and there are many there who desperately need to know God's love!
